What does the cabin air filter do?

Cabin air filter replacement

 

Replacing the cabin air filter is a relatively simple process that you can often do yourself. Refer the following steps:

  1. Locate the filter: Find the cabin air filter housing, usually behind the glove compartment or under the dashboard.
  2. Gather tools: Get a screwdriver or socket set for removing housing cover fasteners.
  3. Open housing: Remove screws or clips securing the housing cover and open it.
  4. Remove old filter: Slide out the old filter, noting its airflow direction.
  5. Clean housing: Check for debris and clean the housing interior.
  6. Install new filter: Insert the new filter, ensuring the correct orientation.
  7. Close Housing: Carefully seal the housing, reattaching screws or fasteners.
  8. Test HVAC: Turn on the HVAC system to confirm improved airflow.
  9. Dispose of old filter: Dispose of the old filter following local regulations.
  10. Record replacement: Note the date and mileage for future reference.
